Our Exterior Painting Process
A professional exterior painting project takes more than just applying paint to the outside of a house. Our team follows a proven step-by-step process built around preparation, protection, and clear communication so your siding, stucco, trim, and eaves painting project looks clean and stands up to the weather for years.
1. Pre-Job Walkthrough
Before starting your exterior painting project, we meet with you to confirm the full scope of work. This includes walking the property together, reviewing the siding, stucco, trim, eaves, and doors to be painted, flagging any wood repairs, and answering questions about the schedule and access.

2. Color Consultation
Exterior colors behave differently in direct sunlight than they do on a paint chip. For qualifying projects, we coordinate a professional color consultation to help you choose body, trim, and accent colors that work with your roof, stonework, and landscaping, and that hold up well outdoors.
3. Home & Property Protection
Protecting your property is a top priority during any exterior house painting project. We mask exterior lighting and fixtures, cover windows, walkways, decks, and landscaping, and contain all debris. On homes built before 1978, all preparation follows our EPA Lead-Safe certification (#NAT80988).

4. Surface Preparation
Preparation is what makes an exterior paint job last. We remove all loose and failed material, scuff sand glossy surfaces and trim, feather sand with a dustless vacuum sanding system, and wash every surface scheduled for painting. We epoxy small areas of rotted wood, patch and match cracks in stucco and siding, spot prime repairs, and caulk wood joints.
5. Priming & Professional Paint Application
We apply one full coat of high-build acrylic primer to the surfaces scheduled for painting, then finish body, trim, and eaves with the equivalent of two coats, typically by spray for even coverage. Brush and roll is used on selected areas. We specify Benjamin Moore Regal products, and all leftover paint is labeled and left with you for future touch-ups.

6. Daily Communication
During your exterior painting project, our crew leader keeps you updated on progress each day, including which elevations are being worked on and when. Our production team also monitors the job to keep everything running smoothly and to answer any questions along the way.
7. Final Walkthrough
When the project is complete, we walk the full exterior with you to review the finished exterior paint work. We handle any touch-ups needed, complete a final clean-up of dust and debris, and confirm every surface meets our quality standards and your expectations.

8. Five Year Guarantee
We stand behind our work with a five-year written guarantee against peeling, bubbling, and cracking of the paint film. This guarantee is valid for all Arana exterior projects and is backed by free annual inspections. (Dark colors and horizontal surfaces such as sills, decks, and walkways carry a one-year warranty; some limitations apply.)
9. Annual Check-In
Every year, we inspect the exterior surfaces we painted to confirm your warranted work is holding up against sun, wind, and rain. We assess any areas showing signs of peeling, cracking, or bubbling and provide recommendations for any repairs needed no cost, no obligation, just peace of mind.

10. Warranty Repairs
If anything covered under warranty needs attention, we repair it promptly and free of charge. As your home maintenance partner, we bring the same craftsman’s attention to every exterior repair that we brought to the original job.
Why Our Process Works
